This Membership Agreement sets out the terms and conditions under which “The Story of Emily” (“we”, “us”, “our”, “the Company”) provides annual membership (“Membership”) to individuals (“you”, “the Member”). By purchasing or using a Membership, you agree to abide by these terms.

1. Membership Benefits

An Annual Membership provides the following benefits for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase:

• Unlimited access during opening hours to the Gardens, Woodland, Meadows, and other public-facing grounds. While we strive to provide unrestricted access to the garden paths, we reserve the right to temporarily close or restrict access without prior notice for reasons including, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, maintenance, or any circumstance deemed necessary to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.

• Entry to The Rectory, Outbuildings, War Rooms, and retail spaces.

• Access to the Restaurant and any temporary eateries set up on-site.

• The ability to bring up to four guests to the Restaurant without the guests paying an admission fee.

• Priority invitations to special events held during the year (tickets may be subject to availability and/or additional charges, which will be clearly stated at the time of booking).

  
  

2. Limitations

• Membership benefits apply only to the named Member(s) and are non-transferable.

• Guest access is limited to the Restaurant only and does not extend to wider site admission without purchase of a day ticket.

• Special events may carry additional entry costs which are not included within the Membership fee.

• Membership does not include discounts on food, beverage, or retail purchases unless explicitly stated in promotional material.

  
  

3. Cancellation and Refunds

• Memberships are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and are non-refundable once activated.

• In exceptional circumstances (e.g., serious illness, relocation), a discretionary refund or transfer may be considered at the Company’s sole discretion.

• If the Company must close the site for a prolonged period (e.g., due to health and safety or government restrictions), Memberships will be extended or partially refunded, as determined by the Company.

  
  

4. Variation of Benefits

• We reserve the right to vary, suspend, or withdraw Membership benefits at any time for operational, legal, or safety reasons.

• Where possible, reasonable notice of changes will be provided to Members.

• Any variations will not materially reduce the overall value of Membership without offering an appropriate remedy (such as an extension or alternative benefit).

  
  

5. Member Conduct

• Members must comply with all site rules, health and safety requirements, and the Visitor Terms and Conditions (available at thestoryofemily.com/terms-and-conditions).

• The Company reserves the right to revoke Membership without refund if a Member or their guests act in a manner that causes nuisance, damage, or risk to staff, visitors, or property.

6. Data Protection & Marketing

• The Company will process your personal data in accordance with UK data protection law. Information collected will be used only for Membership administration, site safety, and communications related to your Membership.

• Members may opt in or out of receiving marketing communications at any time by notifying us at hello@thestoryofemily.com.

• Data will not be shared with third parties except where required by law.

7. Liability

• The Company accepts no liability for personal belongings brought onto the site.

• To the extent permitted by law, the Company is not liable for injury, loss, or damage suffered by Members or their guests while on site, except where caused by the Company’s negligence.

  
  

8. Governing Law

This Membership Agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
