Things to know before your visit

We want to create a safe experience for every visitor, so we ask for simple details to know who is on the property.

We only accept card or contactless payments and do not have cash machines on site.

This is a working farm with lots of feathery friends and woolly companions, so please leave your pets at home. Registered guide dogs and service dogs are welcome.

Prioritise your comfort by wearing sturdy footwear, donning a hat to shield you from the sun during summer, and packing wellies and an umbrella for winter visits.

As the Swedish proverb reminds us, 'There is no bad weather – only bad clothing.'

When visiting our attraction, we kindly ask guests to swap their shoes for Victorian slippers in our Rectory and South African veldskoen in our War Rooms. Guests will also be asked to stow their bags away to protect the artifacts and ensure a comfortable, safe, and clean environment for everyone to enjoy.

For their wellbeing, we kindly ask that guests refrain from leaving dogs or other animals in their vehicle while visiting, even for a short time, as temperatures inside cars can rise very quickly. We would be grateful if suitable care could be arranged for them before their visit.

We kindly ask that food, packed lunches, picnics and takeaway meals purchased elsewhere are not brought into or eaten within the attraction or grounds.

Leave your car charging while you visit the Story of Emily. 7kWH single phase EV Charging is available on site in the car park via our PodPoint chargers.

Visitors using wheelchairs or prams are warmly welcomed. Our garden paths are accessible hoggin surfaces, though the car park is gravelled.

Please note that the historic Rectory building is not wheelchair accessible.
