Honouring Emily Hobhouse
After the talk
Bake a Birthday Cake for Emily Hobhouse
As part of our ‘We Are of This Place’ celebrations, we invite you to bake a birthday cake for Emily Hobhouse and enter our special competition at St. Ive Church on Saturday, 12 April.
With prizes in both adult and child divisions, this is your chance to showcase your baking and decorating skills while honouring Emily’s legacy. After the judging, cakes will be available for sale, with all proceeds supporting St. Ive Church. Cakes must be delivered to St. Ive Church by 10:30 AM on the day of the event.

Let Your Voice Soar: Kite Decorating & Flying in Tribute to Emily Hobhouse
This April, guests of all ages are invited to take part in a kite decorating and flying activity at The Story of Emily—an opportunity to craft, create, and let their imagination take flight.
In our Workshop area, nestled in the Rectory courtyard and transformed into a magical space with twinkling fairy lights and soft candlelight, children can decorate their own kites with a message about their favourite thing about Emily Hobhouse or their own dreams to change lives.
Kites are available for purchase in our Retail area, and once decorated, they can be flown on-site throughout the month.
A special moment awaits on Saturday, 12 April—weather permitting, we will gather on The Mound in the afternoon for a joyful kite-flying session, filling the sky with colour and meaning. The exact time will be shared closer to the date.
Come and create something beautiful, and let your messages take to the wind!
